Transportation Services


General Information

Transportation Services is responsible for the collection of taxes paid on motor fuels consumed in licensed (or subject to be licensed) motor vehicles in Delaware, Motor Carrier multi-state registration and road use taxation, fuel transaction data collection, dyed diesel fuel inspections, oversize/overweight vehicle permitting and public carrier.

Transportation Services' mission is to ensure the following:

  1. The collection of motor fuel and motor carrier road use taxes and fees, and the maintenance of programs that enhance voluntary compliance by all taxpayers and registrants.
  2. Provision of courteous and professional service to the taxpayer and the registrant, when interpreting and administering the applicable tax statutes and multi-jurisdictional agreements; and
  3. Provision of staff resources and support for Department of Transportation wide programs.
