When you apply for, or renew a driver's license in Delaware you will be asked if you wish to be an Organ and Tissue Donor. If you agree, a red heart will be placed on the license indicating that you are an organ donor. You will also be given a brochure containing a Uniform Organ Donor Card, which should be filled out and carried on your person. In order to prevent confusion and misunderstandings upon your death, you should also inform your family of your decision to be an organ and tissue donor. Once you have designated yourself as an Organ and Tissue Donor, this designation once you die, may not be revoked according to Delaware law.
You may request to become an Organ and Tissue Donor by accessing the online form by clicking the following link: Sign up to become an Organ and Tissue Donor. This will allow you to request that your driving record be updated with your new Organ Donor Status.
