To avoid long wait times please try not to visit our four DMV facilities during monthly peak periods such as the 15th and 30th of the months and every Wednesday evening between the hours of 5:00pm - 8:00pm. Our wait times are typically minimal on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 8am and 11am so we encourage you to visit DMV facilities during those days/times.

It is also important that customers do not wait until the last day to either renew their driver license, identification card, or to have a vehicle inspected. The DMV has two facilities in New Castle County. If you experience long lines at either facility you may want to attempt to visit the other location.

The DMV has recently added several new online services to our website, please review the website information - you may be able to complete your transaction online without a visit to one of the DMV offices.

Also, please be sure to check out the branch wait times before your visit so you will be able to plan your trip accordingly.

For prompt service please make sure to bring all required documentation with you to ensure your transaction can be completed in one visit.

**Note: for the majority of DMV services you will most likely need your driver license and vehicle insurance card, so be sure to have those documents with you when you visit the DMV.
